English

In accordance with the district's commitment to meet the needs of all students, the English Department offers diverse elective courses for students in grades 10-12. The basic academic skills of reading, listening, speaking, writing, viewing, and thinking, are taught in all courses.

To graduate from Oyster River High School, students must earn four credits in English. Two and a half of these credits must be earned by passing required courses:

 

Essentials of English OR Readers' Workshop - 1 Credit
A Writing Course - 1/2 Credit
A Literature Course - 1/2 Credit
A Communications Course - 1/2 Credit
