ORHS School Counselors Believe

    • All students can achieve academic, social/emotional, and career success while having access to the tools and supports necessary. 
    • School counselors serve all students. 
    • The Counseling Department utilizes data to make informed decisions about the design, implementation, and evaluation of its programming. 
    • School counselors are advocates for all students and operate within the ASCA Ethical Standards and National Model. 
    • The unique personality, learning style, strengths, and identity of each student are valued. 
    • School Counselors foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive community for all students through equitable access to a comprehensive school counseling program administered by certified school counseling personnel. 
    • School Counselors support the development of transferrable skills that lead to productive citizens who are ready to enter college, career or military settings with the skills to be successful.

ORHS School Counseling Program Vision

The Oyster River High School counseling program envisions a future where our students can manage life professionally and emotionally while accessing supports when needed.  Our students will employ healthy decision making and demonstrate perseverance and self-efficacy.  Our students will have the skills and confidence necessary to strive toward their full potential, pursuing happy, productive lives while being engaged, empathetic citizens.

The Oyster River High School Counseling Department empowers students with skills to foster a nurturing community while ensuring access and equity for all students.  Through a deliberate, comprehensive program, students are supported to achieve full academic and social-emotional success while navigating the path to reach their future career goals and aspirations.  Counselors collaborate with all stakeholders to inspire students’ academic success, career readiness, and wellness.  Counselors promote an environment where students are educated, ethical, responsible citizens by delivering data-informed programming which reflects our school culture and climate, along with the uniqueness of every learner.
